Three Memorable Childhood Experiences.

Sometimes, I think back on my childhood but it is difficult to think exactly what I did. As a fifth composition activity, I am going to write three memorable childhood experiences.

A first thing which I can remember is this. It's hard to explain because it's unusual thing but I will do my best to let you understand. When I was childhood, I used to go to mountain, which is located very near from my town, with my friend and brothers. There was very small stream after rained. Can you imagine that stream? Anyway, we went to there and made very small dams. We not only made dams but also attacked the other's dams. They were lots of dams which I and my friends made. I waited timing until my dam was full with water. When it was full with water, I broke my dams to make a flood. If their dams were safe from the flood, it was a their victory. On the other hand, I broke the other's dams, it was my victory. The thing was that who makes bigger dam than other's. One day, i and my brother went to a mountain to do that play. He found a stone, which is very useful for making a dam. He rolled the stone to me. unfortunately, i couldn't avoid that rolling stone and it hit my face. It made big scars on my face so I could remember that day but I didn't blame my brother and the stone. I wish I could go back to that time and had fun with them again.

I can remember a my first Christmas tree, which I made with my two elder brothers. At that time, my parents were too busy so they couldn't take care of us often. We decided to make a Christmas tree ourselves. We were saving the money to make a Christmas tree. Although we could buy some decorations, we couldn't buy a tree. We couldn't help but uproot a tree which is in a mountain. We went to the mountain, in which we used to make a dam, with a shovel. Most trees were too tall and big so it was hard to do that because we were still children. Finally, we found a proper tree and tried to uproot it. However, it was not that easy what we thought. We fought with the tree for 2hours but we couldn't make it. At that moment, my father was coming to find us because we just disappeared without any notice. In the end, we could get the tree. My father helped us. We made a most beautiful Christmas tree I ever seen.

I like a baseball. I and my friends used to play a baseball. As usual in Korea, we played a baseball not in ground but in street. Sometimes, a ball was going to the house where a big dog lived. One day, I hit a ball and it was going to the that house. I couldn't help but go into the house because I hit the ball and nobody wanted to go there. When I stepped into the house, I could see the dog who was sleeping. I tried to don't make any sound. I was almost there but I made a sound. The dong started barking and ran to me. I didn't know what to do. I just ran and screamed. He keep following me and barking. At that moment, I threw the ball to the dog. Fortunately, I could hit the dog. The dog stopped barking and knocked down. I could run away from the dog without any hurt. However, the master of the dog found me and he scolded me. I felt sorry to that dog. After it happened, the dog avoided me.

Those are my three memorable childhood experiences. Thank you맞춤법 검사.

International Marriage(In-class)

A. Summary

A speaker want to marry an Indian guy. She loves him so much even though they met 8 months ago. However, she thinks there could be some problems. Her parents doesn't want foreigner as a her husband but they only want a Japanese guy. She also worries heir marriage life. They have problems which come from different cultures such as languages foods and things like that. She thinks that she will miss parents, friends and everything which is related with Japan. She isn't sure where they are going to live after marriage. Indeed, she worries about their future children who are going to be treated as stranger.

B. Three Pros and Cons
Cons
1. One of them or both of them have to live foriegn country. It means that they can't meet their friends and parents when they want to see.
2. There could be many problems which are coming from different cultures.
3. How about their children? Especially, if they live in Korea, they are treated as a stranger.

Pros
1. They can live with a person who they rally love.
2. They will experience another culture such as foods and language.
3. Maybe, they try hard to understand each other so they don't struggle often.

C. Opinion

I haven't really thought about this topic. There is one thing, it took time until I thought third pros idea but I don't mean that I am against international marriage. Actually, I don't care whether my bride is a Korean or not. The nationality is not very important to me. I think the most important thing is that whether you really want to marry with her and love.

I never thought that I will marry with a foreigner because I hardly met foreigner in Korea. It doesn't mean that if I have opportunity, I am going to fall in love. When I was staying in Britain, I met lots of friend who are not Korean. I never fall in love.

If I have a my beloved who are not Korean, I will propose to her. Why not!

Newlyweds(In-class)

A. Summary.

Sam and Cheryl just got married. They are having a conversation with their friends; Sam is talking with Keith and Cheryl is talking with Heidi. Although Sam and Cheryl love each other, they have a problem. The things are that Cheryl can't cook and Sam can't fix things such as changing light bulbs. Their friends suggest to them that they do those things themselves. However, Sam thinks that a cook is women's job and Cheryl thinks the work something like a changing bulb is men's job.

B. Opinion/ Advice.

They are such an old fashion. They need to change the way how they think. I don't think there are gender roles in marriage relationship. They need to cover each other's weakness as long as they love each other. I suggest to Sam that he learns how to change a light bulbs or cook for his wife and I also suggest to Cheryl that she does a work which Sam can't or learns how to cook. There is nothing we can't do. I mean just learn it!

Capital Punishment(In-class)

A. Summary

Jeremy Irons, who is against the death penalty, is talking his opinion of the death penalty.
His opinion is as follows;

He insists that everyone has the right to live and they are all human being even if they convicts a crime.

The death penalty couldn't decrease the rate of crime. Indeed, there is no economic advantage. It is a waste of money. Indeed, Lots of countries have executed lots of children.

B. Counterpoints

I don't agree with him. Sometimes, we need to execute some cruel criminals even if they are human being. However, there might be a misjudgement so we make sure that he is guilty or not. Some criminal, who convict a serious crime, are deserved to be executed.

How to Raise a Child(Out of class)

One day, I am going to marry and have children. I have thought that how to raise my children and be a good father. I had been raised by my parent. I respect my parents most and I learned some skills that how to raise children. Some of them are good but some of them are bad. Now I am going to explain that my own way of raising children.

To be a good father, I will listen to my children very carefully. I will create a convenient atmosphere so that they can come to me to talk their problem. A TV interrupt family's time. I won't put a TV in the living room. Turn off the TV and have a time to share what happens today or what problem they have. I will share my experiences with them. I need to express interest in my children and involve myself in my children's activities. I will never consider their problem as light things.

If they do bad things or behave not well. I will punish them with a loving heart. Children need limits and be leaded. They might ignore these limits sometimes. Reasonable punishment is one of the ways children can learn what is wrong and right. I want them to be understood why they are punished.

Having religion is good way to teach them. Personally, I believe in Buddha. I will take them to the temple. I think that it is good idea we learn right things and wrong things. However, when they grow up and if they don't want to believe in Buddha, I won't force them to believe in Buddha. I will respect their personnel opinion of religion.

I like sports and exercise. I hope that I and my children play football or basket ball together. Every Saturday or Sunday, I Will take them to the playground and have fun. It makes them healthier and we can be closer. Swimming is good as well. Take them to the swimming pool and have a good time. It sounds like very good to me. Having a common hobby is good because even if they grow, we can have share our hobby and we have time to talk and share the life.

It is very important period that when they go to school because it is first step to be a member of society. I will attend school activities and do homework with them. My parents didn't do this for me. They were working and they didn't have the time to care of my school life. Indeed, they have two more sons besides me. I will visit a teacher to talk a lot even if it means taking some time away from work. The time, which I will have with them, it is never coming back again.

Sometimes, they struggle with their brothers or sisters. I used to do that. When I did, my parents always blamed me not my brothers. I am a youngest son. They always said "You should respect your brothers". They didn't even want to know why we fought. If my children fight, I will listen to them why they fight. I won't blame one of them. I just want to teach that they should respect each other.

One day, they will be adults. They are going to make their own decisions and they will have responsibility of that. I will allow them to experience life for themselves. It is not common in Korean society. However, they must learn how to live so that they are ready when they are adults. I will start it like this; I will make them to clean their own room. I will give them some money and watch them how they spend that money. When my children grows, these things will give them more responsibility.

It is difficult to do in ways of what I think. However, I will always care of my children and love my family. I Just hope that they remember me as a good father and love me.

Thank you.

Five Gmails of Complaint(Out of class)

1.
Sam-sung electronics

To whom it may concern

Subject : Faulty PMP
I'm afraid that the enclosed PMP doesn't work. It is the third one I've had to return this month. I bought it from Internet. I was careful to follow the instructions for use, honestly.
Other than the three I've had to return recently, I've always found your products to be excellent.
I'd be grateful if you could send a replacement and refund my postage (state amount).
I really appreciate your help.

Yours faithfully,

Park Sung-ho.

Seoul city hall.

Dear mayor

I am so uncomfortable when I take a bus. Have you ever taken a bus in Seoul? I don't think you have. Bus drivers drive so radically. They start off quickly without confirming passenger's situation. As result of this, some passengers fall off. There is one more. The thing is that there are too many people at every morning.
I suggest that bus drivers should be educated and warned. They need to respect passengers and think of passenger's safety. There is a suggestion about second problem as well. I would appreciate if you increase a number of buses at morning.
Thanks for reading my suggestion. I hope that you think about these very carefully.

Yours faithfully,

Park Sung-ho

Dear Mr President

You try to build a canal. I know that is one of your public promises. However, i don't think it is a good idea. I don't know construction and things like that but most experts think that it is going to be the worst thing. If constructing a canal is going to be failed, we can never recover it.
I advice that you need to think about it very carefully and check through it again and again.
I believe that you are going to make a wise decision.

Yours faithfully,

Park Sung-ho

Soong-sil University.
04/04/2008

Dear President of Soong-sil Univ.

I wish I had exercised in Soong-sil Univ. I like swimming. As you know that it is good for health. However, there is no place we can swim in the school. If we have swimming pool, we can open swimming class and earn the money from outside.
It is very difficult to play football in Soong-sil. If we want play football, we have to rent a playground. The problem is that there is one playground but there are too many people who want play it. We can't play unless we rent it 3 months ago. I hope that we have more playgrounds.
I would be pleasure if you make a swimming pool and playground.
Thank you.

Yours sincerely

Park Sung-ho

To my brother.

I know you are busy but I am busy as well. As you know that I am senior student. I am preparing lots of things to get a job. We are doing well so far. However, the thing is that I am going to be very busy more than ever. I am doing housework alone but I can't do that anymore.
I mean I don't have enough time to do it alone. It is going to be very helpful if you do housework.
I believe that we can help each other. I love you, my brother. Bye.

Yours faithfully,

Park Sung-ho

Do Animals Have Rights?(In-class)

A. summary

It is a kind of debate. They are talking about animal right. There are two guests. A woman who is medical researcher doesn't think that animals have rights. On the other hand, a man who is a present of F.O.A (Friends Of Animals) speaks for animals. The woman insists that A human has right to use animals for them and a human is different with animal. The man disagree with the woman. He claims that a human is animal as well and we need to respect animal like we do each other. Animal should live in freedom and they have rights like we have.

B. Opinion

I haven't really thought about it. The only thing I know is we are different with animals. However, it doesn't mean that we have right to use animals. I think we are a Small part of nature so we need to keep them and keep nature.

C. Opinion about vegetarianism.

People have right to live how they want unless they give damages to the others. I really don't care what they eat or not.

The Elementary School Teacher(In-class)

There is a boy who always perk it. The other class mates don't like him. One day, a teacher asks something to students. The boy raises his hand and answer the teacher's question. The others think that the boy perk it again. When the teacher faces the blackboard, someone throws a rolled paper to the teacher's head. Of course, the teacher is upset and asks students who throws this thing. They all indicate the boy just like they want to give him a hard time.

A Mother's Worry.(In-class)

A. Summary

Margarita is a married woman and she has three-year-old son. At 3 years ago, she quited job because her baby was born. She thought that that was a best decision at that time. However, she loves her job and the company which she worked for wants her to come back to work. It was very difficult to persuade her husband but he allowed her to work.
Although she work again as she liked, there is a problem. The thing is that it is harder than she expected. She is so stressed because she has to work and take care her baby and do house works. Her husband is trying to help her but it doesn't work well. She doesn't know if she is doing well.

B. Advice

I haven't experienced that but I guess it must be serious problem. It's very difficult to do many things at the same time. I think you are going to be fine if you are used to that. You said that your son is OK without you and your husband is trying to help you. I advice you to just keep doing what you are doing now and have patient until you are used to that.

C. Opinion

I am going to have babies if I am married. I am really expected having babies and it's going to be big pleasure to me. However, I don't blame the people who don't want to have babies. They have their own opinion or the way of their life.
